This picture was taken in May of 1983. A number of notable plates are visible, both Alaskan and other plates.

The Alaskan plate highlights include a couple of heavy-truck plates (silver on black, "Mx" prefix), some passenger and personalized plates from the '60s and '70s, and some commercial trailer plates.

Alaska license plates are manufactured by Irwin-Hodson Metal Manufacturing Inc., located in Portland, Oregon.
